Frequently Asked Questions

Getting Started

What is a protocol?
A protocol is a sequence of steps that guide you through a practice. You design it once, setting the steps, timers, and structure, then practice it whenever you're ready. Think of it as a routine you wrote yourself.
How do I create a protocol?
Tap the + button on the home screen. Add steps by tapping anywhere in the step area. For each step, you can set a timer, add instructions, create nested sub-steps, and configure repeats. When you're done, tap the back button to save.
How do I run a protocol?
Tap the play button on any protocol. During execution: tap the right side of the screen to complete a step, tap the left edge to go back, and swipe up to skip. If a step has a timer, tap it to pause or resume.

Data & Storage

Where is my data stored?
Your protocols are stored as plain Markdown files in your iCloud folder (or locally on your device if you choose). We can't see your files. They're in your iCloud. You can open and edit them in any text editor.
Can I use myProtocols on multiple devices?
Yes. If you use iCloud storage, your protocols sync automatically across all your Apple devices signed into the same iCloud account.

Philosophy

What if I miss a day?
The app doesn't know you were gone. It only knows you're here now. No guilt, no broken streaks, no "you missed X days" messages. Come back when you want.
Why are there no streaks or badges?
Streaks create anxiety. Missing a day becomes worse than not practicing at all. We skipped that. The practice is the reward.

Other

Is there a web or Android version?
iOS only for now. Web and Android may come later.
